Attendance and Punctuality

Research shows that children do better in their education if parents and carers emphasise the importance of attending school regularly and on time. At our school we promote and reward good attendance.

If your child is ill and unable to attend school, please telephone the office the first morning they are away. In the interest of safety, you are required to contact school before 8.55am on your child’s first day of absence.  If we do not hear from you or receive a reason for your child’s absence, it will be recorded as unauthorised on theirBuilding with bricks attendance record. If a child’s attendance becomes a concern, the Education Welfare Officer will become involved.

The Government recommends that family holidays are taken outside of school term time. Should this be unavoidable, an absence form, requesting approval from the Headteacher, must be completed and reasons given on a separate written statement in advance of the requested leave. It is then at the Headteacher’s discretion as to whether the absence is approved. No more than ten days absence each school year can be approved and will be recorded as unauthorised.

Emergency closure

In the event of severe weather causing the school to close, we will send out a text message to every family and organise for a radio message to be broadcast on Heart FM when they announce school closures.

Please note that it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that contact information held is always up to date, so please let us know if your mobile, home or work number changes. Thank you.
